Think of theatre rather than a traditional lecture. Patrick's Keynotes are highly visual with  many images, animations, video clips - these are short, embedded video elements (almost always without sound).  Content is created in close consultation with event organisers, adapted precisely to theme and audience. His Mac can sit on the technician's desk with all their other equipment. There is nothing for the technicians to do during the keynote itself.  Setup time usually takes less than 5 minutes, including sound check, with good preparation on both sides before arrival.

The method I use is to read very widely, learn from every person I meet about their own changing world, travel extensively, spend time with innovators in the world’s greatest companies, and always ask radical questions about what could happen in future. 

All great Futurist speakers focus on hundreds of longer term trends which have been changing relatively slowly over the last three decades, and which will drive huge business opportunities over the next two decades, and then combine these with a very detailed view of the client's own business.  

But that is not enough: world-class Futurist speakers need to have passion, conviction and the ability to read every audience at the speed of light, feeding them life-changing, astonishing insights in an entertaining and highly-memorable way.
